sting operation

The title suggests something about which I might write something some time later. Its 10:21 AM on a Thursday morning, I just had a milkshake, the weather's chill, so thought lets write some stuff down. Im gonna go back to IIMN this summer, I plan to write daily stuff there, lets see how much can I live upto this word of mine. Kounde's matchday playlist blasting on my ears, ahh, clean stuff. My work this time is gonna be about extracting features from posts of a particular IG account and correlating with the engagement metrics. Tough job given how many features can be present and the accuracy with which I could potentially extract them, will have to design a pipeline for this, gonna be my first time working with ML pipelines and maybe even MLops.  The playlist is damn good, newfound love for J.Cole, and Metro Boomin, Dini and Dosseh.  I think I should maybe switch to some different site to publish my blogs, maybe some everyday logger if I can find.  Ah, gotta work so...

this sem is about to end.

We had our batch photo today, it was long overdue given how all my junior batches have had one; this idea struck to Aryan back when we used to see IISER Mohali peeps post their batch photos at the end of every year on Twitter, glad to see the culture has started here at IISERB as well. So, I am sitting in CCD, tired of studying NLP in library, well, not tired exactly, its just a lot to study in so less time. I actually had a thought today, of starting a technical blog, or maybe a finance blog, or maybe both, under the same banner name but two different blogs. I changed my blog title to 'everyday stuff' and blog address to 'markoveffect', by the way, I love the markov effect and its mathematical intricacies. I am pretty hungry but need to study as well, cant think of writing anything as of now, maybe continue tomorrow. Until then, bye.

Where have I been?

I havent posted anything in a while, almost 9 months, or almost two semesters. Now, obviously nobody cares where have I been, its not like this blog has a zillion readers, but I would still like to go on. Its a Sunday almost noon, at the IISERB library first floor, which has been my go to place since past month due to the ridiculously irritating heat here, and what, maybe 500 others as well? Nevermind, coming back, I had not planned to write anything anytime soon, but I came here today, was feeling pretty bored, did some light work, which I think is gonna bite me back in the near future, anyways, I was just looking at the blog analytics, and thought, ah, lets give it a shot today, its been a long time we've written, so here I am, on it. I genuinely love the album - The Division Bell, 2011 remastered version of Pink Floyd, its pretty soothing and I am writing this as it plays. The past, almost a year has been pretty nice, especially my fifth semester, I realised what I wanna finally...

My time at IIMN - Sentdex

So now, yeah, where were we? Oh yeah, I was just done with gulping down those amazing sandwiches on the first day, and was done bathing twice. I was calling home and to my friends to show them the campus and how posh it was, I was too tired as well so I did catch up on some sleep. I did some preliminary work before I was going to meet the professor under whom I was gonna work, two days later. I was also panicking because I could catch no internet inside the room, well, here comes the classic me – I dig up the number of the IT head, called him at 7 in the evening, pestered him to find me some way to connect to the wifi, finally he agreed to give me the guest credentials. How did I find his number? Well, while I was in the mess, I saw a group of men, probably in their thirties, fit, sharp looking, dressed in sports attire, yet looking fresh, arrive, I immediately figured out, it’s the armed forces, and I was right, it was the navy men here for some training, the extrovert me, went...

My time at IIMN - We are here.

Well, in the previous post, I told you guys that I am interning at IIM Nagpur, this time, am gonna tell you about my time at IIMN, also The Infamous is a great album, isn’t it?   Had a train from Kolhapur to Nagpur on 12 th of May, it was gonna be a 24 hour train journey, food was prebooked, wasn’t an issue. What, was gonna be an issue was no charging ports for side lower in a second AC coach, terrible. Also, Survival of the fittest is such a banger song. As usual, I spent half time sleeping, and rest half listening to songs, with no one to chatter. I made sure to search and find and confirm the metro routes I would have to take in order to reach the IIMN campus, wasn’t gonna be easy, I had to change a metro line and take the last station on the second line, thanks Reddit!   13 th of May, the next day, I step foot and god, I am cooked, quite literally, the heat was such it could toast a loaf better than a toaster, headed to the metro station just adjacent to t...

LDA

Has been a long time I’ve written something, that’s not code. While I write this out, a white noise playlist from some random YouTube channel plays and I also have been discovering a lot of new music lately, thanks to Spotify. Its 2 nd of June 2024, a Sunday and I am currently sitting in my cubicle on the first floor of Faculty building at IIM Nagpur, and the heat outside is enough to toast bread. It’s been half a month since I came here and the people are absolutely amazing, too sweet and helpful, my professor is even more amazing, and I absolutely love working here. Realizing a lot of things, about my work, about myself, about a lot of things. So now the song has changed to Glided Lily.   Just fifteen days and I’ve learnt more than I could ever possibly in that time frame. Came across something amazing called as Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), which is a method of topic modelling. Let me give you a guided tour of what LDA is – Let's say you have a collectio...

Seven Days

So, I am back after a long time, its 0949 hours right now on the first day of the last quarter of the   FY24. The last I published was August 1, 2023, long time ago, I know. Things have changed a lot since then. I mean, Zomato hit their first profitable quarter, standalone though. I discovered my love for spreadsheets, too. Microsoft Excel, one of the truly most amazing things I will ever learn. It was a product of a small gig I did in December’23 at an asset management company, man, I loved it, totally. It was a sort of high frequency environment, no room to slack off, the trading desk guys started exactly when the markets opened until they closed, laser focus, jacked with headphones, probably processing loads of information, mostly all mentally, to get that last penny out of the upper curve of the graph. And they loved it, could see it in their eyes, while they moved here and there to look for that perfect dip on the chart and square off a heft position. The biggest ...
