King Of The Hill

 King Of The Hill

At 9:35 AM, On March 13, 1986, Microsoft’s stock was traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time. It opened at $25.75 per share, By the end of the first day, some 3.6 million shares had changed hands. It peaked at $29.25 before closing for the day at $27.75. – from the book Hard Drive.

These are some of the lines from the book Hard Drive – a biography of the tech titan Bill Gates. They are just crazy, ridiculously crazy words for someone like me, and people who follow business and tech and know its fantastic history.
So this is me writing on a windy, very windy Sunday at 1845 hours. So, as I said I would be writing more after my mid semester exams, this is where I am starting.

As an avid non fiction reader, the most I read are biographies and autobiographies, I guess I have already mentioned that but anyways.
So coming back to the books, one of the best I have read is Hard Drive, the Bill Gate bio.
While reading it, I got goosebumps almost every alternate paragraph, it was obviously history in the making. Read about Bill’s law suits, his childhood, how smart he was, how he  wrote code on the Harvard computer while studying law. Everything.

There is a documentary series on Netflix – Inside Bill’s Brain, even though it’s also about Bill’s current charity and goodwill pursuits, but well, it’s a must watch if you are a business enthusiast. And now I need to take a bath, its 1132 hours of the day and I still haven’t, I will after finishing this.

You know, sometimes I just feel, guys like Bill got lucky, I am not saying only lucky but yeah they were at the right place, at the right time, doing the right damn thing, and also being a bit of shady. There are also some stories in the Silicon Valley that Bill’s mom knew some senior person in IBM corp. which got him the famous MS-DOS deal, but well, we never know what actually happened.

So, I am ending here for this blog, bye.
